Fiber on the Mountain Orange Sherbet

Jane Plaugher of Fiber on the Mountain in Deep Gap, North Carolina, is an expert spinner, weaver and felter.  Her yarns are unique and her spinning is true art!   She frequently conducts workshops throughout the western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia region and is available for classes and workshops at Greenberry House regularly.

Alpaca Handwarmers

Atlantic Breeze Alpacas moved from Wilmington, North Carolina to Meadows of Dan not long ago and they've already become an asset to the community and to the fiber world here!  The farm specializes in fine fleeces from white, beige and fawn alpacas and the yarns that they produce are pure luxury!  Alpaca is becoming a very popular yarn with knitters.  I have people come in to buy the yarn for shawls especially, as well as to make socks, hats, scarves and hand warmers.   Atlantic Breeze hosts workshops and seminars about all aspects of fiber use and creativity.  Recently Sandra opened a new shop in Meadows of Dan, featuring wonderful Fair Trade items made from alpaca, and more!

Beautiful Hand Painted Sock Yarn

Natalie Johnson of Knit Fit Knitting is our reigning sock yarn queen here at Greenberry House.  Her hand painted and hand dyed yarns, in wonderful fibers such as bamboo and superwash merino, shine like gems on our shelves.  Natalie has a beautiful little boy and lives in nearby North Carolina, where she works as a veterinary technician.  She spins and knits and we have several of her original patterns here at the shop.

Gorgeous Fleece from Thistle Cove Farm

Sandra Bennett, resident shepherdess at Thistle Cove Farm in Tazewell County, Virginia, produces wonderful Romney, Shetland, Merino and Shetland/Romney cross fleeces from her herd of pampered sheep.  The farm is in beautiful Tazewell County, Virginia and Sheep Shearing Day is held the third Saturday of every April.  Sandra also conducts seminars, featuring "Making Your Small Farm Pay".

Linda Wunce of Lil' Bit of Heaven in Spotsylvania, Virginia raises llamas and Shetland sheep and produces lovely roving, handspun and millspun yarn.  Often she blends other fibers into the wool and llama her herd produces to create beautiful and interesting yarns and roving.

Linda's specialty is glorious custom hand dyed yarn, and her wonderful color work is very popular here at Greenberry House.  From glowing yellows to subtle variations in blue, Linda creates unique yarns and produces something for every project and every knitter and crocheter!  Learn more about llamas and llama fiber here.
